    Use this:-

The PC Decrapifier Wipes Unwanted Junk | The PC Decrapifier

It's freeware, user friendly and will identify which programs/bloatware that are safe/unsafe to remove.

Have a look at these two tutorials.
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
    Clean Up Factory Bloatware

If you don't try and use these programs/bloatware, you won't know what they do. If you remove/uninstall them before ever using them, you will never know what they do.

Maybe there are samaritans out there who have broken down what these programs do for HP products (et al). But generally, these programs are repackaged Windows functionalities given a company theme. If you are already fond of Windows modules or have third-party alternatives, then by all means, remove the bloatware. Please do so step-wise or cautiously: disable their auto-startups first. Kind of like what Windows does. You tell Windows you don't want to use WMP or IE, it'll will disable much of it, but it won't ever uninstall or remove said module.
