Can you still uninstall an update? Just try to uninstall one windows update. If success.. check for updates and install it (the one you uninstalled should be listed)
    will try that now thanks

Any problems today or yesterday? Related to install/uninstall? Reliability monitor doesn't update its data instantly!! It updates every few hours as far as I know.

You didn't run both fixes? Not necessary if it's working now.

The only thing you did was install the windows updates that were listed ?

Yes, that's all that I did.

The strange thing is that I had most recently updated it on the 16th June 2012, i have used the "run as administrator" option since that date?

Oh well it has solved my query so I'm happy!

    Cheers again
