Temp user profile, previous files gone - regedit didn't work
Hey I woke up today to my computer logging me into a temp profile. Searched and read about the regedit stuff where you delete the .bak and rename the same one with .bak. Tried making a new admin profile to access the stuff on my old profile but it's not there. Made sure nothing was hidden through the control panel, appearance and settings, folder options, tools etc.
Basically I just want to know how to look for all of my stuff so I can back it up. When I installed windows I tried to point as much stuff as I could to my secondary drive so if windows crapped out as it usually does at some point, I could just re-format and just point to the correct directories. Point is there were still a lot of files that got stored on my C drive which I've had no luck finding. For example I have a friend named Gary who had a folder on my desktop for his few files; search can't find it on the drive. I've done similar searches for the folders and files I could think of and none came up.
Am I screwed on getting these files back? The sad thing is a lot of them were things that I had invested a lot of time in at one point but then saved and haven't touched in a while so I don't have a good memory of every file. Some of them are more important than others such as CAD drawings I had done for school and other projects.
