Today I downloaded Vista Icon Manager but it wouldn't work. I did some work on the PC then turned it off.
When I turned back on again all my desktop icons except "resident" programmes have a square in front of them. The squares were originally black but have now changed to the "Windows File ". I presume these squares are the lay over arrows that come with shortcuts.
I have uninstalled Vista Icon manager from the PC but to no avail.
Any ideas ? Thanks in advance

If it's just the shortcut arrow overlay messed up on the icon of shortcuts, then you could use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to restore the default arrow.
