No recent items - jumplists or in explorer

    Hi,

I just reinstalled Windows on my laptop, and recent locations is no longer working for me. Nothing comes up in either the recent locations folder or the windows explorer jumplist. I've tried resetting the jumplists and running sfc /scannow. Neither fix anything. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a solution? I'd really like to be able to use at least my jumplist again. It is very useful.

Hello GooeyGungan, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Normally after resetting jump lists, it may take a day or two before recent/frequent items being opened to start repopulating in the jump lists of pinned programs on either the Start Menu or taskbar.

Double check using the tutorial below to see if your have Recent Items turned on. In addition, check the blue NOTE box in the same tutorial below to see if that may apply.

Recent Items - Turn On or Off

Hope this helps for now, :)

Thank you for the reply. I had already done everything listed in the thread, but now only some things appear to be working. Some folders show up in my explorer jump list, but not all. For example, "Logs" (C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs) shows up, but not my Downloads folder (C:\Users\[Username]\Downloads). Also, my iTunes and Steam recent items lists appear to be stuck. They do not update to reflect the most recent songs or games I've played. Could I have copied something back after reinstalling Windows that's interfering here?

Edit: My steam and iTunes list appear to have started working. iTunes just doesn't appear to work in the way I'd think it would.

In addition, you might see if using the hotfix in the Microsoft KB below may be able to help with this.

A Jump List Item is not displayed in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

Well. Apparently Windows won't show a folder in recent locations unless you've actually opened an item from that location. I had never noticed this before. Before I tried all of this, my jumplists were definitely broken, so one of these solutions fixed it along the way, I'm just not sure which. Thanks though!
