No 100MB partition made. Any reason to worry?

I have 4 partitions on my hard drive and when I clean installed win7 on the first partition, I didnt get any option to create 100MB partition, and neither did windows did it automatically for me. I read in forums that this partition is crucial for recovery process, which I deem very important and want to have as must for my machine. If windows didnt create it for me, does that mean my laptop wont be able to recover in case of problem? What can be the solution or workaround to the problem?

If your hard drive is already partitioned it will not make the 100mb partition. There is no worry about it.

That 100MB partition is just for pre-cached repair files if you needed to perform a repair install or any out-of-OS resotre.

If this partition does not exist then reparing from a DVD will take a bit longer as it will need to load files into memory. It's completely safe that you don't have 1

On the partition where you installed Windows, you have a hidden folder called "Recovery", in this folder are the files needed to recovery process.

Did anybody know how to force the creation of the 100MB

    Hi,

I installed Win7 as the second OS on a disk with Vista already installed. Obviously I deleted the second partition on that disk to let Win7 suggest its own preferred partition scheme.
But Win7 did not create that hidden service partition.
Is it possible to force the creation of that partition lateron, for example by shrinking the Vista partition by 100MB.

    Thanks in advance

When your in the Windows install program and at the choose the HD to install to stage, delete the existing partition(s) but DONT create a new one. Windows will then set up the 100mb partition.

       Warning
deleting partitions wipes all data from your drive
