    How to make cbr and cbz files show thumbnails?

    I for some reason am not able to get a thumbnail view of any of my .cbr & .cbz files anymore. I had to reinstall Windows 7 a few days ago and now no thumbnails show for my comicbook files. Pdf's show fine once I locate them with Adobe Pro. And usually when I locate them with a certain comicbook reader program they show up as thumbnails even when viewing in windows explorer. But not now. ANyone know how to make cbr and cbz files show thumbnails in windows explorer?

    Do you have many comic books? If not, changing the extensions to rar, then extracting the cover file and naming that file the same as the comic book name will handle it. If you have extensive collections of comics, then you're probably out of luck because this is an on-going issue with comic readers. Many developers are working on this issue and I am myself waiting for them to release updates that would show the cover thumbnail...no fix yet as far as I'm aware of, although this is a low priority thing for me so I've not checked on it lately.

    Hi cocktailmunky,

    You may find this link useful. Zip Thumbnails (Updated:version 2.0.0.6) someone has written a thumbnail viewer for zip and cbr comics, I'm not sure about cbz. For the 64 bit version there is also an extra driver (towards the bottom of the forum), download it too if you have Win7 64bit.

    I have installed it but can't reboot yet because I'm downloading. If I get to reboot before you reply, I'll let you know if it worked for me.

    Hey thanks for the advice. Yeah I have like over 2,000 comic files so a shell extension or something would be great.

    I know this post is old. But just yesterday I found a tool called "cbxshell" and it
    should do what you want. Also thumbnails first file (just pictures?) of .rar and .zip files.

    Have not tried them, but you can get the software here;

    CBX Shell

    Download CBX Shell 4.6 Free - Windows Explorer thumbnail and infotip extensions for image archives - Softpedia
