    Winddows 7 x64 cursor/touchpad issue

    Hi folks,

I'm completely stunned. I've been using Windows 7 since the early 6xxx builds, now I'm on the latest build and I've noticed a very odd behaviour of the mouse cursor or the touchpad (don't think it's touchpad related)

As always I'm using the one click to open files and folders option, with underline icons only when I point at them setting. And like never before the icons are selected/marked (like for deletion or name change) instantly after the cursor is above them.
To make it more clear; normally when you use the one click you need to point the icon and wait about one second or click for the icon to be highlighted in my case there is no time delay.
It's very frustrating cause when you browse a drive with a lot of folders you can accidently grab them and move inside another folder on the drive + it is almost impossible to mark/select files or folders for deletion when you're using Ctrl to select a few files in the folder cause when you move the cursor to select another file all the files that the cursor meets on it's way which are not intended for deletion are selected.

It's driving me mad, where to look for a solution?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

PS. I should have mentioned that everything is fine when I switch to the double click option, there is a proper time delay etc.

Filled in but it's not a hardware issue, I'm using Win 7 on 9 computers now, pcs, laptops and one mac.
I've been using it on the laptop that I have the problem with since I bought it 5 months ago, with not a single issue. 2 days ago I did a fresh install of the RTM build and the problem occurred, before that it had the 7600.16384 build installed and everything was fine.
So like I said hardware is irrelevant here.

Bet there is a mess up somewhere in the registry, does anybody know which registry keys are responsible for the one click option and it's settings? + could you post the default key values from a system where this function works correctly?

zigzag3143 it's a standard Synaptics Touchpad used by every acer laptop for ages, nothing special here.
