Wish to delete "Windows old" folder

    Hi

I’ve recently installed Win 7 over Vista. It was a clean install as I couldn’t get the upgrade method to work. I now find I have Windows folder (9.97Gb) and a Windows Old folder (136 Gb).

Can I just delete the Windows old folder? I’m never going back to Vista so that’s not an issue here.

    Many thanks

    Many thanks

I'm a bit nervous and curious as to why my old folder is so big in relation to the Windows folder.

How big was your Vista C partition?

    Simon,

As Wolfgang posted above, the C:\Windows.old folder contains a copy of your previously installed Vista.

You can try to delete it as you would any other file/folder. For some reason it does not always work that way. If that does not work you can go through the tutorial then.

There you have your answer. The freespace of the old partition is of course not in the Windows.old folder.
