You should not lose data using a non-destructive method like PW version 4.2 - the last version it was a free feature in PW. Download and burn the CD using Windows Image Burner from pw422.zip ISO - You need the CD for rescue purposes.
Boot the CD and follow these steps: .How to convert dynamic disk to basic disk with Partition Wizard?
You will need to delete the partitions first which you added that caused it to convert to Dynamic. Why would you allow it to do that if you didn't know what problems it was going to cause? You could have asked here and we would have told you to convert C to Logical, shrink it to add as many Logical partitions as you wish: How to set partition as Primary or Logical.
Partition Wizard Resize Partition Video Help.

hey arc watched the video, but u may have noticed in that video that eventhough the disk was dynamic type some local disks where primary type & some logical type.i'm talking about that.
also in that video after converting to basic type some local disks changed to FAT32.what do u say about that?
Christin you just follow this post by Greg hard disk changed to dynamic type after using disk management .
I am sure that you will get the basic disk back without losing any data.
hey greg i'm totally new to this windows 7 family.I just followed a video in youtube.Had no idea what is a dynamic or logical.
thanks to your suggestion.I'm going do it by your way,but I have just one doubt:
you said "delete the partitions first which you added that caused it to convert to Dynamic" that means do I have delete my f & g drives?
Are those the ones you added that caused it to convert to Dynamic?
If so then they must be deleted first after backing up your data. You can only have four Primary partitions or three Primary and unlimited Logical on a Basic disk.
originally my laptop had c drive & recovery drive.then I used disk management & shrinked c & created f & g.This is the case.So according to you i'll have to delete these 2 local disks?
The f drive contains movies & g drive contains softwares. Can they be backed up?If yes how?
Sorry for these silly questions I have already told that I'm new to windows 7.
