Folder Name after period is gone

My folders with period (.) on its name will lost the folder name after the period. But the folder name itself doesn't change
Sometime after reboot the problem is gone but will back after some time

    Example:
Folder Name after period is gone-7-23-2012-8-09-41-p-m-.png
Note the Type and the name. They should be "NokiaCooker_2.9" and "NaviFirm+ 1.7"

Folder Name after period is gone-7-23-2012-8-11-06-p-m-.png
In file inside the folder properties, the location shows the right path, but in folder path not (when in edit mode however, it shows the right path until I press enter to exit edit mode)
Folder Name after period is gone-7-23-2012-8-18-08-p-m-.png
    same with above

    Thanks.
Sorry for bad English and explanation

    I'm confused.

Would you give me one and only one example of folder name which is not appearing correctly?

A smart move is to never use a period in a folder name.

Use the period for its original purpose, that is, as the separator between folder and extension or put another way as the first character of the "extension".

    This is another example
Folder Name after period is gone-7-23-2012-8-42-48-p-m-.png
The real folder name is ".VirtualBox" created by VBox in my user folder. So sometime it's quite annoying

your bios is very old which means probably your chipset driver and other drivers are old.
    go to this website:

The site only has the same version provided in the DVD so they're old too.
But I managed to update the BIOS, chipset, VGA, Bluetooth, and audio drivers. Others are stock drivers AFAIK

Your first sentence makes no sense, however, the important point is that you updated the bios.

You should have updated all of the other drivers while there. If you have a more recent driver on you system, then you will get a message stating such so that you can cancel the install.

Do me a favor and while we are getting your system up to speed, disconnect all external drives.

    carry out following:
HOW TO POST A SNAPSHOT OF DISK MANAGEMENT DISPLAY
    Run disk management:
    WIN |
    type DISKMGMT.MSC | ENTER
This method gives you a display without the unneeded navigation pane.
WIN=key with Microsoft logo on top.

Maximize the output of Disk Management:
Maximize the output of Disk Management:
    ALT-Spacebar key combo | X key (selects Maximize) |
Drag the field separators (such as between Status and Capacity) to show entire field.

    Make a snapshot:
    WIN |
type SNIPPING | ENTER | New
Drag the cursor around the area you want to snip.
File | Save as | select save location and name | Save

    Post the snapshot:
Post a File or Screenshot in Seven Forums

Run that script again for me please and attach the resulting computerinfo.txt file as an upload please.
