The mouse pointer does move. I pressed CTRL+ESC and nothing happens. Pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL and nothing happens.

Icons on bottom on screen? Or screen totally empty (only background and safe mode in corners)?

Why are you trying to recover btw? What happens if you boot normally?

No icons just Safe mode in the corners. An error message has come up on a Toshiba Recovery window. It says Error F-3FF00-0006 "Failed to get the ID of the specified partition. Press ok to turn off your computer." I am trying to run a system repair or other suggestions offered in the forums because windows will not start when I try to start my computer normally. I get to a blank screen after it goes through a few steps. This just happened yesterday. Computer had been working fine.

When I turn on the computer I get the Toshiba logo screen, the it asks for my password which I enter, then it goes to a starting windows screen and then nothing happens from there. It just stays there.

You told me before .. it ends in blank screen?! Do you mean that by saying "nothing happens from there"?

Based on what I've told you so far, don't you think the hard drive is bad.
