DiskPart has encountered an error: The device is not ready.

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 as a dual boot with my windows 7. To see my footprints, visit this page: How to dual-boot Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7
I got to the step where EasyBCD is used. When i open EasyBCD an error message pops up: The boot configuration store could not be opened. The system cannot find the file specified. Would you like to maually load a BCD registry for EasyBCD to manage? Please note that EasyBCD requires the Windows Vista/7 bootloader, and will not work in XP-only environments.
I spent a day or two to review some posts about this problem until I came across a thread saying that this has something to do with the Windows 7 hidden partition, and that I should assign it a letter to access the BCD. I tried to assign it a letter, but I couldn't, finally I realised that I need to unhide it, I ran CMD IN ADMINISTRATIVE MODE, and entered these commands:
>diskpart
>list disk
>select disk 0
>list partition
>select partition 1 (considering this is the system partition)
>set id=7
Now this message popped up: DiskPart has encountered an error: The device is not ready. See the System Event Log for more information.
So my question is how can I solve the unhiding part or the easybcd part.
I have been stuck on this topic for days, i hope I will get a solution fast :)

You normally canassign a letter to system partition.

Not sure what you have done to cause that.

You might want to run checkdisk first.

The system partition is the one containing the boot critical files.

It might be the 100mb partition created during win7 install, or it might be the manufacturer recovery partition , or it might be the windows partition, it may even be a completely separate partition on another HD.

It is the one identified by Windows disk mgmt as "system"

Yes! I'm so happy I solved it. This is what I did.
1. I installed Partition Wizard 7 just to check whether it is the same thing (meaning that i cant assign a letter to the SYSTEM partition)
2. I assigned a letter to it. :)
3. I ran wubi.
4. Everything worked

So basically Disk Manager and CMD and EaseUs Partition Manager, could not assign a letter to it.
But now i installed ubuntu an i'm happy with it.
