Drive letters don't show in many browse buttons, After effects, etc.

    Hi all,
Oh boy is this strange. I just discovered that in After effects, & cinema 4d , that i can not select any drive letters to browse for folders.

For example, In after effects, I want to choose a different drive path for my cache data. ie, M drive instead of C drive by default
(Please look at image) (please see video demo) as you can see I do not get any choices to select different drives. There should be a "COMPUTER" icon but i can only select folders in the c drive.

Now, some people say its a permission problem. But I looked into that, it doesn't seem to be it.
Are there any computer nuts out there that can figure this out?
    Thanks,
    Lou

    iou4uanadme,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

Are you perhaps a new user of Win7?

I know nothing about After Effects as I'm a rather plain vanilla type.

    WIN + E | Dbl-clk on the desired drive

WIN is the key with the microsoft logo on top.

You really should learn to take advantage of "Libraries".

WIN alone will pop up the main Win 7 Menu

In the column on the right, you will see Documents, Pictures, Music, Video and a few others. Use those.

    Hi again,
Ok I tried what you said, but akk that does is open a seperate window with the drives. When i se;ect a drive, it doesn't add it to browse box.
P.S you don't need to know After Effects. This is a windows issue that is effecting After effects * Cinema 4D. I am trying for some sort of a work around to lead to another drive OR fix the reason I am limited to only the Desltop Icon.

Also, I even tried adding a shortcut of the M drive to FAVORITES And it did select it, but the true path was C:\favorites\Mdrive folder (which was in the dam C drive! )

You sound like someone who is trying trying to do things the XP and/or Linux way.

Your approach is totally foreign to me.

I will not be able to help you.

Perhaps someone who thinks in the same paths as you can be of more help.
