Pinning to the Start Menu

What's the difference between "pinning" a shortcut to the Start Menu and simply copying the shortcut there?

Welcome to the Seven Forums
If you mean dragging it into the start menu, there is no difference it the same as pinning it.

Thanks.

Why is it that I cannot rename items in the Start Menu?

And what's the difference between the context-menu options 'Unpin from Start Menu' and 'Remove from this list'?

If you rename the shortcut on the desktop then drag it to the start menu it will be the new name.

Yeah, I realize that. It doesn't explain why they can't be renamed.

If there's no difference, why are both selections available?
