The following may provide a solution;
Windows 7 Error Recovery on Start up - Microsoft Answers
HTH
I will check that, but I think I already have and I think it said that I needed a recovery disc which I don't have. I need a quick fix, my husbands laptop is slow!!!!!!
Is there any one else who has had this problem and can help??? I have a Dell Inspirion operating on Windows 7 64 bit. Dell says my warranty has expired so I can't get any help or answers without paying them????
Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.
They lead up to if necessary rescuing your files to run Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
For best performance I would Clean Reinstall. If not and it repairs then at the minimum Clean Up Factory Bloatware.
If you concentrate on getting and maintaining a perfect Clean Reinstall now then you will benefit from it permanently.
I have Dell operating on Windows 7-your post says HP-will this site work for me? I will try it anyway, thanks
It looks like I have to be on the affected computer to use this-I am on my husbands laptop-can't get past that screen.
Dells provide a Clean Copy Reinstallation DVD for Recovery Media so if you can't or don't want to run Recovery you can clean reinstall with little problem - using the installer provided in tutorial.
