    notepad has taken over computer


    NOTEPAD has taken over computer cannot open any apps everything is a problem cannot open system restore have tried various anti virus programs please help johnaugustus

    Hello John, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    I suppose it really wants you to write something in Notepad.

    It sounds like the associations for .lnk (LNK) and .exe files may have gotten messed up. If you like, you could download and merge the .reg files for the listed lnk and exe options in the tutorial below to restore their default associations and hopefully fix this for you.
