Well even if they can't provide support, there are forums like this one that provide good support. And Re-install is a last option.

Yep, my defense is starting fresh and using Acronis... I always back up to a previous time before making any changes and it's been working great for years.
Best $50 I ever spent...
I don't think anyone actually goes to Microsoft for support in a non-corporate environment. You will have much better luck going to a forum such as this one. I also don't know anyone, again non-corporate, who buys their licenses direct from Microsoft.
If you don't upgrade your hardware often, just get a System Builder's license from whatever legitimate store you normally shop at, even online, such as Newegg. Then, you are responsible for your own support...which means you come here. It's the cheapest option.
Curious as to why you are considering only those two Win 7 versions? What feature(s) are there in Win 7 Pro or Ult that you need that keep you from going with Win 7 HP?
I don't think there is a "Win 7 HP"... unless you are talking about buying a computer from HP and getting support from them.
Only reason I was asking about buying from MS is because you can buy Win 7 Pro for $199 which is decent pricing and one could call MS direct for help if needed.
Yes, but I would rather have Professional as the primary purpose for my computing habits are for business use... not to play games. You've never heard of Windows 7 Home Premium?
We're trying to be helpful, but you have to add in some willingness to help as well. Did you read the comparison's at all in your first response? The versions have nothing to do with the types of applications that will be installed, such as games or business productivity apps.
Are you going to be connecting to a domain?
The 2 main reasons to go with Pro over Home Premium are 1) The ability to join a domain and 2) The ability to DL and install XP Mode. If you don't need those features, why pay for them?
Other than which features are included, all Win 7 versions are the same underneath.
I've already paid for the computer and it came with Win 7 Professional... besides, in my business I am a "professional" so it makes since to be able to say, "yeah, my operating system is Professional"
I don't want people thinkin I'm just some home based business when I tell them I use Home Premium... they'll think I just sit on the couch and watch TV half the time... which is not very Professional.
