Missing disk space in new internal hard drive

    Hi All,
I just purchased a new internal hard drive (Seagate Barracuda hard drive - 3 TB - SATA-600) to be used for storing data. Installation was simple, and Disk Management noticed it right away, with 1 problem: The free space is 743.48 GB, not the 3000 or so I was expecting. Disk Manager says it is 100% free. So the big question is: Where is all that other disk space?

    Thank you!!

Does it actually say 3TB on the HDD body?

Maybe there was a labelling/packaging error at the factory.

Yes, it looks like to be a 800 GB disk

Also go into Device Mangler, er, Device Manager -

    Control Panel > Device Manager

Expand Disk Drives and see what the system reports for the model.
