    Adobe Reader icons take over desktop icons


    In W7, when adobe reader is installed, it takes over desktop icons, links no longer work. I uninstalled adobe reader, and everything was normal. When I reinstalled Adobe reader, again, most desktop icons were covered by Adobe icon... I used CC Cleaner, file type associations. I had to install Foxit Reader. I would like to be able to reinstall Adobe Reader'

    Hello Turquoise gem, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

    If you haven't already tried this specific solution, you might see if downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below to see if it may be able to help. It will restore all default associations for lnk (shortcut) files.

    Default File Type Associations - Restore
