    use 32-bit software on 64-bit Windows7 ?

    Hi,
i have seen that one of my friend used 32-bit program on windows7 64-Bit, without doing anything at all.
    Is it possible?

    I will buy a new laptop with Windows7 64-bit, that's why i am asking.

Why not??? Only 16 bits programs don't work.

allways you can install and use x32bits programs to 64 bits pc, but you cant do the oppossite! x64 bits computing means that your pc can open 2 times larger files than the x32 bits computing!

Who told you that nonsense? It has nothing to do with maximum filesize. It uses 64 bits addressing and registers in cpu (instead of 32bit). So giving you a theoretical 2^32 times as much memory to address.

A x32 program will work on x64, but not vice versa.

Yes, 32 bit programs install to "Program Files (x86)" folder and 64 programs install to "Program Files" folder. Its all automatic, Windows handles it all on its own.
