I have a dell inspiron n5110.its just new bought it a week ago ,i am looking forward to upgrade its windows from windows7 homebasic to win7 ultimate .now the problem is that i dont want to lose my data and programs that are installed on it.so now i am scared that when i will upgrade my windows from windows anytime upgrade some error might occur and i will lose my data and programs .so i want to back up windows and the programs that came along with it .if it is possible some how.and 1 more thing . i also want to back up my windows and its data because if i upgraded to windows7 ultimate and incase i dint like it or dint work properly . then i could come back to the windows7 home basic which is my current windows .

Make a disk image before you do anything. Either on a external hard drive or dvds. Does it have a recovery partition ? Post a pic of your disk management.

You should not loose anything when you do the upgrade.
There`s no reason you won`t like Ultimate.

What do you hope to gain by upgrading windows7 homebasic to Windows 7 ultimate and if you have only had the PC for a week why didn't you have it come with ultimate?
