Disappearing icons..

i saw a lot of threads on this but none helped me yet!
when i start my laptop and start using it, if i open a drive, a folder in it..n go back..the icons disappear..some folders have the "empty folder" icon, others have blank icons..
the .mp3, .jpg, .exe and other files have "paper" icon..
when i restart the computer, the problem is sorted..but will show again..
but the .jpg files show "windows picture viewer" icon and not the "small version of the image" icon, this problem persists even after restarting the machine.
i tried "rebuild icon cache" and some other things too, but nothing helped..
after opening a drive, n going back, my computer wouldn't show anything..and on the left panel, search icon appears..

please help!

i've attached the screenshots of the problem..

Hello Swapnil, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if clearing and resetting the thumbnail cache may be able to help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Ok. Next, double check to make sure that you have Windows Media Player set as the default program for all of it's associations.
Default Programs - Set a Program's Default Associations
In addition, verify in each option in the tutorial below that you have thumbnail previews enabled.
