I am looking for a way to decompress the drive from offline, but for now, one possibility might be to install another version of Windows on the drive, if you have room. If not, perhaps adding another drive or moving the current drive to a different computer.

But you can download the Windows 7 Install DVD from here.

I have not yet checked the Live version of Ubuntu to see if it might decompress a NTFS drive.

I could go digging for the Windows 7 dvd but I also have the recovery files downloaded on my computer.

Nothing will be deleted. Take any 32 bits version. Even 64bits version should work for this kind of repair (not 100% sure)

I just compressed my C: partition, which is the System and Boot partition, and could still boot fine. I did not think Microsoft would allow you to compress files necessary for your system to boot.

As Kaktussoft suggested earlier, the bootrec /fixboot command is recommend for your exact situation. Although it assumes something corrupted your System partition, like a driver, or virus.

So, however you compressed the drive, might have led to a deeper problem than just a couple of files being bad.

But I was unable to duplicate your situation.....

bootrec /fixboot only puts a new good "volume boot sector" (which was already fine) and a fresh uncompressed bootmgr on that partition.
@Saltgrass: Are you sure your system boots from C?? Also check properties of C:\bootmgr. Is it really compressed?

I have the Windows 7 setup files on my USB and when I put the USB in it does nothing.
It still says BOOTMGR is compressed.
I'm not good with computers and I don't know what to do!

EDIT: After bashing the keyboard during bootup it finally loaded the files!
Rage is good after all! The setup is loaded and I will post the results!

If this is for me, the bootmgr being corrupted, means you need to replace it.

I set the install up for the System and boot partitions to be the same, which was the only partition on the drive, so yes I am sure it booted from C:

When you compress a drive (partition) it shows many files as having denied access. I stopped trying to keep track but the C:\boot folder was one where access was denied in many instances.
