Recovery (D) 80% full, How to clean out?

Hello,

I just inheritied an HP Pavillion Entertainment laptop P--Dv6. In checking it out all of the old files--docs pics and stuff have been deleted, however the Recovery (D) drive has only 2.19 GB free left out of 13.2 GB. The other drives are relatively empty. Does anyone know how to clean out the recovery drive of un-needed things? I have no idea what is important and what's not.

While I'm here-does anyone know how to reset the username for the PC so it shows mine?

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure I am comfortable doing a complete reinstall of windows 7. I dont have any disks and dont want to lose any programs, etc, and I think it's still under warrantee for a while yet (my mom forgot to send the sales paperwork with the computer).

The Recovery drive is part of the installation from HP - it is where the "original" files are located. If you use the HP recovery, this drive is where it goes. If you ever want to use that feature, do not delete that drive or any files in it. The reason it is almost "full" is that is the space needed for the recover files, nothing else.

If you don't every want to restore the HP installation, then remove the partition and add the space to your C:\ drive. Just know that the recovery option will no longer work.

Oh--Thank you. It sounds like I can just leave it alone. I was afraid it would become somehow too full to use for practical purposes in the near future. If it is just for recovery alone I won't mess with it.
