Gotta agree with Indiana. We shipped back a Toshiba laptop in the box they provided overnight, it was returned just a few days later with new reimaged HD.

For this service they charged us $25 for shipping which annoyed me but thrilled the owner.

You don't really need a site like that, and I would be cautious anyway, in case they didn't update information often.

Wherever you plan to buy your parts from, you'll have the info you need. Once you choose a motherboard, based on budget, needs, and processor support, all other ocmponents are very easy to pick. The mobo will tell you what procs to get, what type of memory it can handle, etc.

UPS probably fixed your laptop for you.
If you watch the show Modern Marvels, an episode titled Deliver It, focuses on shipping companies.
Toshiba uses UPS's facility in Memphis for doing laptop repairs.
UPS employees do the repairs.

This way you get a perfect match and also you have a choice. What I got could have been a couple hundred dollars cheaper if I bought the OEM PC, but the case would have been a plain black one and I just wanted the custom feel of my part choices.

Sure thing, it is comparable to Tiger Direct or New Egg, just not as well known.

Just on a side note, all it put in was =directron.com= and it shows three lines of description. WOW

It was tracked to Jeffersonville, IN which is just across the river from UPS hub in Louisville. Now I wonder if it really even left their property, though.

Used to hand-build ALL the desktop PCs, for myself, and for my extended family. But in recent years, I can't match the bundled price of low to medium-end PCs (HP being a prime example) -- and, the stuff you buy from OEM's "just plain works".

So, while I still build my own and my spouse's PC (cause I like to choose the components myself), I've resorted to buying OEM PCs for others.

Hi, I have a computer that is only used for work purposes. This includes internet browsing (up to 20 tabs at once), creating screencast videos using screenpresso, lots of work in Onenote, Excel, Visio. My main issue right now seems to be memory related. With 3 gb of memory I have difficulty...

OEM VS Third-party software (MS-branded vs non-MS)
Before MSE came out I had hypothesized that because it was in Microsoft's best interest to make an AV solution that does not cause noticeable problems that are apparent to the end-user (and which get blamed on the os, not the AV) and that they have access to private API's, MSE would be the best AV...
