    User Logon Icons Doubled Up

    Hi there

I have a problem which has troubled me for a week now.

I work in an organization, and have got a laptop in because the time it took to logon, due to HP protect tools trying to run a biometric can everytime you logged on. However after alot of effort and time i managed to correct the problem.

BUT since it has been fixed the user logon icons now appear twice on the logon screen

Now for the confusing part: as you can see in the picture there are 2 rows of icons. If you try logging in using a icon from the top row the hp protect tools runs the biometric scan...... but if you log in using one of the bottom row it doesnt and logs in perfectly fine.

All i would like to do is remove the top row of icons, so it is less confusing for the laptops user.

    Thanks in advance
    Toby :)

Hello Toby, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but since you have "Other User" on the log on screen, you might see if the tutorial below may be able to help any with this issue.

Logon Screen - Fix Showing Only "Other User" and Last Logged On User

    Hope this may help some,
    Shawn

Thanks for the assist Shawn but that isnt really the fix im looking.

im work in an organization so i would need it to be other user and last logged on, but if all profiles were showing, the boot up time might breach a world record for being the slowest lol.

But to the serious stuff, i did some more digging around to day and found a windows 7 default setting in control panels add/remove programs. however the publisher was hewlett-packard... so i set a restore point and unistalled resulting in no success -.- afterwards i unistalled the hp protect tools, and it appeared to have worked. but attempting login it brought back the previous hp protect tools slow boot up time asking for biometric authorization, which fails as there isnt any so now back to square one
