And in the end, we will all use what does the job, and that is the name of that tune.. personally, im not out to convince anyone to use any OS over another...

Matt's Question was ...
Anyone think Windows 7 will put Microsoft back on track and recover from the Vista negativity?
The object here is to speculate if W7 will repair Microsoft's bad reputation ...
Not try to convince anyone which is better.
I'm guessing it'll take a while .. but NO.
How long did it take for Vista to get a bad reputation ??

The problems with Vista were 1. the giant footprint as compared to XP and 2. the instability, especially before SP1 (largely caused by drivers).
It looks like W7 fixed the #1 problem plus todays PCs are more powerful and have more RAM than in 07. For the #2 problem the verdict is stll out. Right now we are all operating with a pre-release and we have to make a little allowance for that.
In my mind, W7 is Vista - as it should have been on Febr.1, 2007.

I've heard people say that however I beg to differ. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. Just by the fact that it uses less system resources than Vista and can run smoothly on older machines. Windows 7 may have features that were based off of Vista but it has been completely re-designed, just look at Windows Explorer.

Agree on the internal design point. They shook it up quite a lot. I guess they had to do that to get were it is now. But the external appearance is 80% Vista. And that is good in my book. Too bad though that they dropped a few functions that I was using a lot - but you can't win them all.
