    Stutter/freeze at midnight (00:00)

    Hello there,

A weird freeze/stutter thing occured on my system (Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate) today at midnight (00:00). It was present for a second and was gone. My sound became corrupt during that second, as if BIOS was flashing, but after a second, the system unfreezed and returned to normal.

I had this on my old computer, and not exactly sure what's causing that. I looked in the event viewer and the only log I could find at that time was this:

"Windows Time service entered the running state." - Brief translation from my native language.

The other tab provides the following information:

+ System - Provider [ Name] Service Control Manager [ Guid] {555908d1-a6d7-4695-8e1e-26931d2012f4} [ EventSourceName] Service Control Manager
    - EventID 7036 [ Qualifiers] 16384
    Version 0 Level 4 Task 0 Opcode 0 Keywords 0x8080000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2012-08-25T23:00:00.339934900Z
    EventRecordID 24744 Correlation - Execution [ ProcessID] 736 [ ThreadID] 6472
    Channel System Computer Kamil-PC Security
    - EventData

    param1 Windows Time

    param2 running

I'm not sure where to start digging down to fixing this issue. It's frustrating to say at least. I wouldn't mind, since it's a short freeze, but I don't want my system to quietly begin falling apart.

Thank you for any help or suggestions in advance.

Try to clear the CMOS by unplugging the power cable from your system and removing the CMOS battery. Then, press and hold the power button while the system is unplugged to drain all power from the motherboard. Then, insert the CMOS battery and plug in your system. You will have to set the time and other BIOS settings back to the way you had them as clearing the CMOS clears out all BIOS settings.

Can it be somehow done with Factory Default settings or something on BIOS? The motherboard is Gigabyte Z77-D3H. Otherwise, it'd mean that I have to unscrew my big cooler Noctua to get to the battery, reapply the thermal paste... takes a while.

The factory reset in the BIOS will not do a reset of the time. Also, when you clear CMOS, the BIOS has to redetect the hardware again.
