advanced search options

I'm trying to search for a specific type of file that contains a particular word. Ive looked at the "Tips for finding files" article in Microsoft and it mentions an advanced search button but I can not find it anywhere. It says its in the search folder but I have no idea where that is located. Does anyone know how to find it? If the advanced search button is not available, can anyone tell me how to search in only pdfs and docs for a file that has a particular word in its content?

Advanced Boot Options
Advanced Boot Options has been coming up on its own everytime I have started my computer up. It first started doing this when I was running Vista 32bit then 64bit and has followed me onto Windows 7 64bit. How do I go about disabling it? Thanks in advance.
