Windows 7-somebody accessed my personal stuff off my laptop ???

My soon to be ex-wife, on my new Dell inspirion said I left my E-MAIL open and ...
Anyways I could swear I shutdown and at minimum closed it shut so it went into sleep mode. She would have done this at least an hour after I closed down. My user account is PASSWORD protected. I thought if it sleeps and you open it back up it goes to user login or does it depend what program you left open ?

What if I was correct that I did shutdown completely, what is the possibility of somebody getting into my account by bypassing the password or circumventing my administrator priviliges ? or am I wrong that an open program will stay open until whenever ?

    I am really pissed.

Water under the bridge now but I'd still like to know, especially if she took it to some pro.

    THANKS

Hello bang4dabuck, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It really depends on if you have it set to require a password on wakeup or not. If not, then the computer will just wakeup how it was when it went to sleep.

    Password - Require on Wakeup

    Hope this helps some, :)

This could be your fault more then anyone elses. Why would you just leave it sitting around for others to access. Yes even with a password hackers could get in.
