    Hard Drive showing in removable devices


    Hi,

    I would like to NOT have my two SATA hard drives and my DVD/CD player not showing as removable hardware in the list on my task bar. Any ideas anybody?

    In BIOS - Is your drive controller enabled as AHCI? This allows SATA drives to be hot swap - removable. You and I can both search SevenForums for a reg hack to remove the two drives from the Safely Remove Hardware (SRH) icon list. I think there is a registry setting.

    I'm a bit tired tonight, but I think you can change the BIOS setting to IDE without ill effect (not true for changing IDE to AHCI, but I think AHCI to IDE is OK).

    Somebody stop me if I am wrong.

I have two monitors that have ports for USB and memory card built into the side of them. When the monitor is plugged into the CPU they are assigned drive letters and become available for use. The problem I'm having is that they are sometimes interfering with my network assigned drive letters...
