my folders are locked , how do i unlock all of them permanently?

im not sure exactly what i did wrong here, but i was trying to set up my windows media center to stream with my xbox and then i come back to find alot of my folders locked, they have a little pad lock icon and when i click on them it states that i dont have permission and when i click okay, it unlocks and opens. I only have 1 user account on this laptop and i am the admin. is there a way to unlock them ALL at the same time permanently?
