Well it's not a 95 machine but I built a Windows 98 machine about a year ago. Boy was it a pain to find compatible parts and drivers. Nonetheless I got it up and running though there are still issues... I have to have it wired to my network as I have no wireless card for it. Since the OS is no longer supported I'm missing lots of files and updates, etc, etc, etc....

Anyway here's my thread I started on it - Building a Windows 98 machine

BTW I still have my Windows 95a disks as well.

I just ran into a hitch on my plans. I realized that they only have a 56K modem, hence no Wifi. I don't have a convenient place to plug in a phone line. Oh well, it was a great idea. Back to something productive................

The lack of WiFi drivers is a sticky point. I have a perfectly functional Compaq laptop that I bought in 1998 that came with Windows 95 but I upgraded to Windows 98SE a few years ago. If I remember correctly, Win95 had very limited usb functionality.

I tried both a pcmcia and usb wireless adapters that purported to work with Windows 98 but neither would. I use a wired pcmcia card for network access and Opera 10.10 as a browser.

Just bought a new battery for it, more as a whim than for any useful purpose. It runs for an absolute age.

My original intent for bringing this relic out of the closet was as a data gathering device for my charger/discharger project for my hybrid car. Turns out that the Pentium 150 just doesn't have enough oomph to record the output from 2 digital multimeters.
