How do I password protect one application

I am looking for a way to secure one specific app on my system more than the rest. A example of what I would like is...

User clicks on Icon, user is asked for a password to acess that app, user supplies password and app launches, or no password/wrong password, no app.

Any Idea how this would work, I know I can set up a seperate login for this, but that is not really the solution I want.

    Ideas/opinions ?

What's wrong with a separate account? You could rig it so that only AccountX has access to the app executable, and then create a simple shortcut or batch file which does "RUNAS /user:AccountX MyApp.exe". The app will start only if the correct password is supplied.

Place the icon in a password restricted folder.

Launch the app from a script.

Sorry, but I cannot recommend PasswordDoor. I tried it, and it locked my system necessitating in a hard reset to recover.

However, there is a program that you can use. I've tried it in Windows 7 (64-bit) with no problems. It is called Empathy Empathy | Michal Strehovsky: home

This program is PostcardWare, meaning that it is free to use, but has some restrictions, namely the length of the password is limited to just 1 character in the unregistered version. There is a way round this, but it effectively means that you are restricted to a 4-character numeric password.

To enter this password, proceed as follows (example only).

Alt + 0000 to Alt + 9999 (numeric keypad only).

Based on your comment I took the PasswordDoor link out. I would hate for one of our friends to get into trouble.
