Lenovo laptop locked me out. Asks for password which I did not set

I've used windows for so long and have never experienced this problem.

New lenovo laptop with Windows 7 home premium.
Created primary username on initial setup, but did not create password.

last night, computer goes to sleep, I wake it up, and it asks for the password to my primary username. But wait, I did not set a password in the first place!

so it has locked me out.

Does anyone know what happened?

I popped in a generic Windows 7 installation disc to try to repair, but that doesn't work.

its possible that the wake from sleep is set for asking for a password. i couldn't tell you how to get into a computer that thinks it has a password when it hasnt, but if you do manage it then check the wake settings

but from the password screen, i rebooted the computer, and it still asks for password on start up.

On my old computers, i've always set a primary user and password, so i've never had this problem.

But this time I got lazy with no password.
and then this happens.

I just restored the computer using laptop recovery function, and I checked net user.
it says my account password never expires, and no password is required.

and it still locked me out. However I checked Power options, and it indeed asks for password on wake.

its advisable to set a password, in some cases a virus/remote hacker can set a password on a un pass-worded computer locking the user out,

You will need somthinmg bootable to clear/reset the password.

There is a boot disc here which has that:

https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=B0A22...89320E3247!345

d/l REP.7z

Unzip it with 7-zip.

Burn the iso to cd.

Boot it up on the machine you can't get into.

Ther is program on there to blank passwords.

Is it solved - or does the OP now know why it happened - but hasn't fixed it?

Can't tell from the posts.
