However I did take the chance, and ran Combofix without experts around, I just ran the program. When it was finished I restarted the computer and the problem was fixed.. Not only did it fix my problem my computer loaded in 35 sec compared to the 55 sec it usually takes and ever thing I use and do on this computer is working fine "So Far" If your at your wits end and are about to reformat your hard drive anyway then try it. Other then that find an Expert to advise you through it like A Guy suggest. Always back up your important info first anyway with any program just to be safe.

Solution

I had the same problem. The problem had to do with Mcafee leaving a service after uninstalling it. Go into the computers services dialog and search for Mcafee. Disable the service.

I too am having the exact same issue with a Lenovo U410.

I have tried the fixes noted in this thread, but have not been able to resolve the issue. Can anyone offer any additional suggestions? If it is helpful, I can post an autoruns log.

I think btcorkum is onto something. I was having this problem on a Windows 7 machine a friend of mine built for me. I was becoming more and more convinced that it was an issue with Adobe Photoshop CS4 (I do not use McAfee). It was resolved for me by "unchecking" the following in my msconfig startup tab: AdobeCS4 Service Manager. I wonder if Combofix is doing this, also??

I had uninstalled a later version of Adobe Photoshop...but how much you want to bet this had not been uninstalled? So...my guess is that it is some sort of "Service manager" in the startup.

Anyway, give it a try! Good Luck!
