| Windows 7: After pressing any character on my keyboard I can't click for 1 second |

After pressing any character on my keyboard I can't click for 1 second After pressing any character on my keyboard (except Shift, Ctrl, Alt, or Fn) I can't left or right click for 1 second afterward. The computer simply does not register the fact that I clicked. This would be no big deal except I am making a game that requires using the keyboard and mouse together. I have not had this problem while working on my game until an hour or so ago.

Welcome to the Seven Forums.
Have you tried using System Restore to restore to a time when this did not happen? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Employer provided Dell E6430 OS W7 Pro SP1 64bit CPU i5 3320M @ 2.6GHz Motherboard 0CPWYR Memory 4GB Graphics Card Intel HD Graphics 4000 Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 Hard Drives 119GB LITEONIT SSD Antivirus Employer mandated Symantec Endpoint Protection Browser Firefox, IE9 & IE8 via VM |

To what extent are you making this game? From the code up; with prewritten code; or inside of a piece of software?
Does this happen only within the game environment, or in all computer activity (internet browser, desktop etc)? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CPU AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black OC'ed 4.0GHz Motherboard Asus M5A88-V EVO Memory 8GB Mushkin Enhanced Silverline (2x4GB) 1333 Graphics Card XFX Radeon HD6870 1024MB GDDR5 OC'ed 945MHz; 1151MHz Sound Card Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme PCIe Monitor(s) Displays 32" Hannspree SE32LMNB Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse CM Storm Sentinel Advance Zero-G PSU 650W XFX XXX Edition 80PLUS Bronze Modular Case Cougar 6GR1 Evolution Cooling Corsair H60 p/p 120mm; Zalman VF3000A; x4 120mm; x1 140mm Hard Drives 250GB Hitachi Deskstar (OS); 2TB Western Digital Elements Internet Speed Not fast enough :I Other Info No matter what your specs, my PC is better. |

@oxymoron:
This problem occurs no matter which programs I am currently using. It happens universally.
@UsernameIssues:
No. I recently downloaded a few things that I'd really like to keep. Would system restore delete my new programs/files? | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit |

I wonder if a poorly written key logger could cause this delay/freeze.
Check your system with a offline scanner: What is Windows Defender Offline?
Those types of scanners can find bad things that load before the OS does.
If the WDO scan comes up clean and if you want to spend the time digging into this, you can use Process Monitor to see what is happening during that lag. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Employer provided Dell E6430 OS W7 Pro SP1 64bit CPU i5 3320M @ 2.6GHz Motherboard 0CPWYR Memory 4GB Graphics Card Intel HD Graphics 4000 Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 Hard Drives 119GB LITEONIT SSD Antivirus Employer mandated Symantec Endpoint Protection Browser Firefox, IE9 & IE8 via VM |

Are you using a touchpad delaying program that disables the touchpad briefly after pressing a key so you won't accidentally move the pointer while typing if your thumb drags across the touchpad? When I tried them to disable the *&^%$#@! touchpad on my Lenovo while typing, I found it also briefly shut down my mouse. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit CPU Intel i7-3930K Motherboard ASUS P9X79 WS Memory Kingston HyperX Genesis 32GB Kit (8x4GB Modules) 1600MHz DDR Graphics Card MSI R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR Sound Card On board Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays HP w2207h Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G110 Mouse Logitech M525 (two in use) PSU Corsair HX750w Case Antec Two Hundred v2 Cooling Cooler Master GeminII S524 120mm (fan replaced with a 140mm) Hard Drives Samsun 128GB 840 Pro

The pointer can still move after I press a key, I simply cannot click. Quote: Check your system with a offline scanner:

A weird thing about this problem is that it is not consistent. Sometimes it is present and sometimes it is not. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit |

First thing you should probably do is check to see you have the latest drivers for both the mouse/keyboard. Surprised nobody has states this yet. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD FX 8150 Zambezi 3.6Ghz Motherboard MSI 990XA-GD55 AM3+ Memory G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 Graphics Card NVIDIA Gigabyte Geforce GTX 560 Fermi Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Wireless Microsoft Keyboard Mouse Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse PSU 500W Cooler Master Case Sentey Extreme Division GS-6510 Burton Cooling Stock FX8150 cooler. :( 5+ LED fans on the case. Good idea. I will do this, but how can I know which keyboard/mouse I have, when they are integrated into my computer? I have a laptop with the same built-in keyboard and touchpad that came with it.
EDIT:
I should point out that I don't think it's my touchpad that's acting up, because I've used an external mouse with this computer and that did not solve the problem. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit |

The only way you can really update them is by going start > device manager > open both the 'mice and pointing devices' tab and the 'keyboards' tab and right click and click update. Although like I said, I doubt they'll be an update on the keyboard since laptops usually use pretty standard ps/2 keyboards. Although there could possibly be an update on the trackpad, I've only had 1 update on it for my laptop in the past year.
edit: just saw your edit, so I suppose updating would be kind of irrelevant. it's always worth a shot though. :P | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD FX 8150 Zambezi 3.6Ghz Motherboard MSI 990XA-GD55 AM3+ Memory G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 Graphics Card NVIDIA Gigabyte Geforce GTX 560 Fermi Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Wireless Microsoft Keyboard Mouse Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse PSU 500W Cooler Master Case Sentey Extreme Division GS-6510 Burton Cooling Stock FX8150 cooler. :( 5+ LED fans on the case.
