I'm pretty sure the forum just applies the "[x] hours ago" in relation to your current time.
If it says "2 hours ago", it has nothing to do with time zones. It is two hours ago.

So the OP's first post was 9 hours ago. That means the local time of the post was 2am ish. Whereas in the UK the time when it was posted was 9 am. Or have I gone of my trolley a bit?

I think you will have a bit of a wait. it would appear that he was using a compter at about 3 o /clock this morning!
    Nonsense, it was 9am! :P
You don't live in Cornwall then! Ask Boohbah, he'll give you the time o' day!

When Spike Milligan was alive he said that if anyone asked him the time he had it written down on a piece of paper. When asked "What if the paper in wrong?" He said "I just don't tell 'um"

Okay, I have read all of the replies and I am going to reply to the relevant ones, which involves "why not a clean install (legit and what not)? and what have i done that did not work.
    1) My reason has nothing to do with legit, I am not spending days reinstalling and configuring fresh installs. So please do not mention that again.
    2) I have tried the repair option, did not work. tried reverting drivers to legacy/generic didn't help. Tried cloning the hdd using Linux and a command line utility called "DD" but that only works when cloning on the same Mobo. However I could use a revised tutorial on those last methods.

    Thank you

It doesn't take days to do a clean install. If you plan ahead, it's actually quite quick. I'm down to about 2 hours. If you are going to rule that out completely, you may not get much help here. That's like going to the doctor's office, and telling him which maladies he can and cannot diagnose you with. You may not like it as an answer, but it's the best one when swapping hardware.

However, if you don't like the best answer, then it sounds like Sysprep is what you want, assuming both systems are currently bootable. It should do the job, as Windows 7 is much more forgiving about hardware changes than past versions. No one is going to tell you it is a better, more efficient method, though.

If you want the best results, for the cleanest, most efficiently running system, a clean install is the way to go. I really don't get the fear over it, considering you say you have a legit license. It doesn't take nearly as long as some people make it out to be.

However, as I mentioned above, Sysprep would be an option to try. You'd still want to have your data backed up anyway.

    Right I was up @ 3:00 AM. Usually up @ 5:00 AM.

I have no idea why the OP didn't just say Retail. But if it is NON OEM what else is there.
