    Bootmgr Missing, Start up repair, diskpart wont fix


    Hello, today I tried to add a new HDD to my computer which ended up making my computer unbootable.

    At first I had the "Restart and select proper boot device" problem, which was fixed.
    After that the Bootmgr is missing. I searched all over and still have not been able to fix the problem, here's the things I tried:

    bootrec /fixmbr
    Success
    Bootrec /fixboot
    Success
    bootrec /rebuildbcd
    Total identified windows installations: 0
    Success (So im thinking it didn't do anything)

    Diskpart:
    Set the partition to active.
    Thing to point out:in detail disk it says Boot Disk: no

    Auto System Start Up repair thing:
    Can't repair system automaticly

    Having it the only HDD in the computerno change.

    The harddrive only worked with my laptop's HDD inside (I'm assuming it's because it used it's boot manager, some how copy it over?)

    Tried playing around with BCDedit. (Might of made it worse )

    The problem initially was that the new HD was trying to boot. Make sure the Win7 HD is set first HD to boot in BIOS setup.

    If it then won't boot when you remove the old HD then something has happened to your Win7 HD and you've probably messed up your bootloader.

    Unplug all but the Win7 HD, Mark Partition Active the Win7 or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred if you have it), then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times from the Win7 installer or System Repair Disk

    When you plug in the second HD make sure Win7 HD remains first to boot. If it again interferes wipe it with Diskpart Clean Command from the installer or Repair CD's Command Line accessed by pressing Shift + F10 at first screen when it's booted.

    If this persists plug in all drives to see if you can boot it again as you described, post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Mgmt drive map with listings, using the Snipping Tool in Start Menu - attach using paper clip in reply box. If you can't boot it again, boot Partition Wizard bootable CD and post back a camera snap of the full drive map and listings.
