Not able to login with password typed in keyboard.

    I am facing 2 issues.
#1. I changed the windows password for a user. After that, I am not able to login if I type the password in key board. If I type same password using On-screen keyboard option of Ease of access, I am able to login.

I thought it could be issue with key board. After login, I checked all keys are working fine.

#2.Due to issue #1, I created one more user and added it to administrator group. I am able to login to windows with this new user with password typed in keyboard. But after login when i type some characters, it displays other characters. For e.g., when I type '\', it shows '#'

    Any solution for these issues?

It could actually be a keyboard virus/malware. I would start with a scan with Malwarebytes Anti Malware.
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

I performed a scan with Malwarebytes Anti Malware. It reported 2 issues (PUP.CrossFire.SA) for a registry key and value and 2 issues (Trojan.FakeAlert.FSA28) for a tmp file. After fixing these 4 issues also, I am facing the same login issue.

For issue#1, it is not allowing to login with keyboard only when the computer starts. Once it is started and if it locked then it allows to unlock using the password entered in keyboard.

Do you have a System Restore point before this problem started? When you open System Restore, be sure to click the box in the lower left corner Show more restore points

Run system file checker SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker using Option Two.

Your restore points also might be infected. I would not trust them. I would recommend as a little insurance using Windows Defender Off Line. A complete long scan.

System file checker did not show any threat/issues. Restore points before the problem solved issue #1. I am able to login using the password entered in keyboard when the system boots.

Issue #2 is still there. This issue could be there before this problem also. As I have not tried creating new user earlier, I did not notice it.

After system restore, I notice another behavior. When a computer is locked, password entered in either keyboard or on-screen keyboard does not work. But click 'Switch user' and then click the same user, password entered in keyboard also works.

I guess I can proceed with this behavior.

Thank you for all the responses.
