Password not recognised on Startup

I just bought an Asus netbook running Windows 7 Home Premium.

It was working fine yesterday. Today I switched it on and it wouldn't accept the password. I tried all the options by restarting and holding down the F8 key. But, they all required the password too. Then, for no apparent reason, it accepted the password and started.

I was prompted to download and install 54 Windows updates, which I did. This took over 2 hours. I was prompted to restart and, guess what....it won't accept the password!

1. This is the same password that I use on 3 other computers, so no issue with that

2. The Caps Lock key is not active

3. This net-book has no optical drive.

4. It came with no backup software.

Help, please.

Many thanks.

D.
