Opening Desktop Icons in Full Screen
The icons I save on the desktop open only in half display. Then I have to maximize. In WinXP you expand once and that solves it. What about Win7?

If the application is Internet Explorer, please see this post:

The best way I have found is open the icon in half or small screen and hit the f11 key. It will open to full screen but hides the tool bar. put the curser on the top of the page and they will re-appear.
