Windows 7 Ignoring Orders

I've noticed this on a number of occasions, most of which are too trivial to mention, that Window 7 offers you a dialogue box asking you whether you want something done or not, you click what you want, but it then goes and does the opposite.

Most recently Windows wanted to restart to finish intalling updates. It offered me the possibility of restarting later, which I clicked because I was midway through some heavy downloads. Within a minute it just went and restarted anyway against my instructions, scuppering the downloads.

I often get the sense with Windows 7 that I am not the owner of my computer. In fact it doesn't seem to have regard that you might actually be using the computer for something more important than its own petty machinations.

It seems there is a set time for the postponement of the restart and I didn't check that mine was only 2 minutes. Other strange occurrences could be put down to tiredness.

Talking of ghosts, many people I know had problems with cursor jumps when using a mouse pads. I observed their movements close and discovered their sleeves were touching the pad, so I understand how people can blame the computer for something they're doing without realising it. Yet, I recently observed several times the scroll bar function on my touch pad with my hand 3 cm above. On one occasion both hands were at each end of the laptop. Obviously it's not ghosts, but don't tell me that weird stuff doesn't happen with computers, because it does, although I agree that 99.9% is something you've done without realising it.
