    Does it matter what you're doing on the computer at the time? It could well be an overheating issue. Remove the side cover of the case and ensure that all fans, especially those on the CPU and graphics card, are operating.

    If temps are ok and the PC is clean from dust...
    Run a memory test.
    Look in event logs for a Windows error at the time of shut down.

    If your PC is beeping and shutting down it's not paranoia.
    There is a problem.

    Take a look through the BIOS setting for some type of Warning Message system. In that you may find the system is set to Beep at certain warnings. Look through those to attempt to determine which warning is causing the Beeps.

    Visit the following site and check the "DOS Beep Chart" for possible causes;

    The beep is the warning.

    Most reports around the web reference overheating / over clocking / dust. I had a similar "What is that beep" when I first got this machine. It happened occasionally, caused no harm, created no event entry, and it has since stopped.

    It could be any hardware disk, memory, CPU - keep your fans clean, run a diagnostic on your temps (speedfan?), check your event logs, and keep an eye (ear?) on it. As you said, there doesn't seem to be any other noticeable problem - just that darn beep.

    Sorry I couldn't be more help or specific. Good luck!
