2 desktops in windows resources I've just noticed that I have two desktop folders in windows explorer (see attachment). The first one is where it should be, while the second seems to enclose practically everything on the computer!! Perhaps I accidentally dragged the normal desktop folder to the lower position; I don't know.
Is there a way to delete the second desktop folder without losing everything else that is inside it?
P.S. My version of Windows is in Italian, but I think you can work out what the various folders are.

Well, there shouldn't be a second folder there, but is it causing any problems? Why do you want it gone? Anyway, just right click it and remove, it'll only remove the link, not anything inside it. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony VAIO VGN-FZ430E OS Windows 8 Enterprise x64 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz Motherboard Sony Corporation VAIO Memory 3.00 GB Graphics Card (1) Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family (2) Mobile Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays 15.6 Inch Screen/HP VS17 Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 x 32 bits @ 59 Hz/1280x1024 @60MHz Hard Drives FUJITSU MHY2250BH ATA Device Internet Speed 20.0 MBPS Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials Browser Chrome and Opera Primarily Other Info Windows XP Pro x32, Windows 2000 SP4 also installed in a triple boot. |

While I'm not sure if the display of the folder structure as shown is a real problem, I have never seen Desktop in the position above Libraries in all the Windows 7 computers I have worked on. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1, Windows 8 Pro x64 CPU INTEL Core i7 3820 LGA 2011 Motherboard Gigabyte GA X79 UD5 v1.0 F13s Memory 16 GB (4 X 4GB) G-Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3 2133 Quad Channel Graphics Card EVGA GTX 460 SC 1GB Sound Card Realtek Onboard ALC898 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung BX2431 Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Microsoft Wireless Explorer Mouse PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Thermaltake Armor+ Cooling INTEL BXRTS2011LC Liquid-cooled Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 4 120GB 2.5 in. Organize on Explorer's tool bar > Folder Options > General > Show all folders.
Now you have seen "Desktop in the position above Libraries". | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware Aurora ALX R4 OS Windows 7 x64 (SP1) CPU Intel Core i7-3930K (3.2GHz, Turbo 4GHz) Motherboard Alienware Aurora-R4 x79 Memory 4x Samsung 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 (16GB 1600MHz) Graphics Card Nvidia Geforce GTX 690 (Stock) Sound Card RealTek Integrated Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp U3011 Screen Resolution 2560x1600 PSU 875W Some Dell PSU <.< Hard Drives Samsung P830 256 GB, WD Raptor 150GB, 2x 1TB HDDs Other Info Dell Inspiron Mini 10v (Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz; 1GB; Windows 7 Ultimate) |

Now you have seen "Desktop in the position above Libraries". Thank you for pointing that out. I guess I prefer to leave it displayed as the default.

It would have been nice if you guys would have told the OP that it could be changed and the way he sees it is just one way that it can be shown, rather than just telling him it is normal. Thanks guys. It's good to know that this 'problem' was just a due to the current folder display option. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit 2 desktops in windows resources problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:48 PM. | |
