I have a new motherboard, ram and processor coming. When I've installed them will it boot into the operating system? I'm pretty sure I've had a halt before when upgrading.

I agree with Tews. Anytime you change the motherboard, it's best to do a clean install of the operating system afterwards to avoid issues with the operating system trying to run like it was still using the old motherboard.
