Cannot Start PC after Grub Rescue "fix"

I used to have Ubuntu one of my partitions but I deleted the Ubuntu partition and I got the error:

Error: no such partition
grub rescue>

So I looked around and found this fix and did as it said:
MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record
So now I don't get the grub rescue error any more but when I turn my computer on, all I can see is a black screen with a blinking '_' at the top left and nothing happens. I still have my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installation disc and I havn't got my linux installation disc so i can't install linux again. How can I get my PC to boot normally again? Please help

Have you tried Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

If that does not work, try to use Bootrec.exe

When you install Linux, it installs Grub into the Boot files to dual boot. It is almost impossible to remove it. Until it is removed, you will continue to have problems. Another thing you may try is to hold the windows key (the one with the flag) and press R. type msconfig in the search box, select the boot tab. If you have Linux listed along with Windows 7, try to de select the linux system or delete it. See if that is of any help. I had the same issue once. I had to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install to get rid of it.

Thanks, it works again now

. I'm only ever using Linux now on a Memory stick in case my computer decides to die again and I need a way to get out of it. Thanks again.

I'm glad you have it working again. Which one worked for you? Just so I'll know for the next time this comes up. I wish I had known about this site when it happened to me. I had to do a clean install.

Once Ubuntu is removed you almost always need to Mark Partition Active the Win7 or it's 100 mb System Reserved (preferred) partition, then as suggested run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
until Win7 starts and its boot partition holds the System Active flags.

If you'll post back a screenshot of your latest maximized Disk mgmt drive map with listings, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu, we can look it over for potential problems or suggestions.
