Security-locks on all files!

    Security-locks on all files!


    On my 2nd HDD all files symbols have security locks.

    This happened after resetting the NTFS-warranties.

    Now I can access all files, but the lock symbols bother me.

    Take ownership of the entire drive ( may take a while ) and the lock symbols should disappear..

    can you perhaps post a screenshot of some folders with locked symbols?

    I already took ownership of it but it didn't help.

    reseting the NTFS warranties? could you elaborate a bit? Im being dense today

    can you right click any of the locked file and go to properties, there you may find any unlock button.

    After taking ownership I set permissions for the whole drive and check to inherit that behaviour to all other folders.
    That however was wrong.

    I checked off the inherited permission, deleted it and added a new one (everyone, full access) to every folder in the root and now the security-locks are gone.

    i don't really understand your solution, can you be a little moer specific on how you fixed it? cause i have the same problem

    An easy way that usually works to fix this problem is to use the tutorial below to take ownership. It allows you to easily add/remove "take ownership" items to the explorer right click context menu:
