Windows 7: Will Windows 7 be discounted again when Windows 8 releases?

I'm just curious as to whether or not this will happen. I'm not sure if this was the case with Vista when Windows 7 came out... In any case, $40 is pretty darned cheap for a new operating system (W8). I suspect that if Microsoft really wants to get everyone on Windows 8, they won't offer any discounts on left over inventory of Windows 7... but that's just my speculation.



Why do I ask? I'm going to test drive W8 and if I find it's not as good as I was expecting it to be, or suffers with software incompatibility problems, then I'd probably want to buy a copy of Windows 7. And so, if there's a typical discount period I'd like to know about it and keep an eye out.
